В ООН зафиксировали снижение смертности на дорогах на 50% из-за пандемии коронавируса

Ограничения, введенные в большинстве стран из-за пандемии коронавируса, привели к снижению смертности на дорогах на 50-60%. Об этом сообщил РИА “Новости” спецпосланник генсека ООН по безопасности дорожного движения Жан Тодт.

Он отметил, что карантинные меры естественным образом сократили интенсивность движения всех видов транспорта. “Это, в свою очередь, согласно официальным данным, привело к снижению на 50-60% (по сравнению с цифрами 2019 года) смертности в результате ДТП во Франции, Норвегии, Швеции, Испании, а также в Нью-Йорке. СМИ в Индии и Марокко также сообщают о похожих тенденциях”, – сказал Тодт.

При этом он признал, что смертность на дорогах не везде снизилась пропорционально сокращению общего трафика. Так, во Франции в марте 2020 года смертность на дорогах снизилась на 40%, хотя интенсивность трафика упала сильнее. Тодт объяснил это ростом числа случаев превышения скорости на опустевших дорогах.

“Например, в Манчестере число случаев превышения скорости возросло на 57%. В общей сложности 6200 водителей нарушили ограничения скорости в течение 25 дней после введения карантина. Повышенная скорость делает каждую аварию более серьезной, приводя к гибели людей, а не к травмам. Следовательно, скорость может объяснить несоответствие между уровнем снижения смертности на дорогах и общим трафиком”, – считает Тодт.

Спецпосланник выразил надежду на сохранение сниженных показателей смертности в ДТП и после окончания пандемии. “Я хотел бы призвать правительства укрепить свои транспортные системы, чтобы сохранить цифры на нынешнем уровне, даже когда они ослабят карантинные меры”, – сказал он.

По последним данным, в мире зарегистрировано свыше 3,76 млн случаев заболевания коронавирусом. Лидерами по количеству выявленных случаев являются США (1,23 млн случаев), Испания (220,3 тыс. случаев) и Италия (214,5 тыс. случаев). Всего от коронавируса умерло 264 тыс. человек, а излечилось 1,25 млн пациентов. В России официально насчитывается более 177 тыс. зараженных коронавирусом, 1625 умерших и 23,8 тыс. выздоровевших. По количеству случаев заражения Россия занимает 5-е место в мире.
